Kildare's Paving Specialists
Paving is a broader trade than driveway or patio work alone. A good Kildare paving contractor is fluent across block paving, porcelain flagging, natural stone (granite, limestone, sandstone), hand-pointed joints, decorative borders, feature inlays, sett edging, retaining walls and the full spectrum of hardscape detail. It is a craft where precision at the joint line and consistency of pattern over large areas is what separates a professional finish from a builder-level one. You only see the quality when you look at the details.
Delaney Tarmac & Paving has been Kildare's paving contractor of choice for over 45 years. We work directly with premium Irish suppliers (Kilsaran and Tobermore for block paving, main Italian and Spanish porcelain ranges, Irish-quarried granite and limestone). Our crews are trained in the specific laying techniques for each material: herringbone, stretcher bond, basket weave and bespoke block paving patterns; full sand-and-cement bedding for porcelain (never dot-and-dab); individual flag bedding for natural stone; hand-pointed mortared joints; clean diamond-saw cut edges.
Across Kildare our paving work covers driveways in Naas, Newbridge, Maynooth, Celbridge and the commuter belt; rear garden patios in the established 1990s and 2000s family estates; period property hardscape in Kildare Town, Athy and the older villages; multi-level terraced builds on sloping sites with retaining walls, steps and seating walls; and the full finishing detail (granite entrance features, stone kerbs, planter walls, edge detailing) that lifts a project from standard to premium.
What separates a proper paving contractor from a driveway contractor who "also does paving" is the willingness to build the hardscape elements around the main paved area to the same standard. Retaining walls built with proper foundations and drainage behind them. Steps laid true and consistent in riser height. Seating walls finished with a proper capping course. Planter walls tied into the wider paving pattern. Edge detailing that reads deliberately rather than making do. We have been delivering that full-hardscape craft in Kildare for four decades.
Proper credentials come as standard: full public liability insurance, current tax compliance, C2 registered, no subcontracted labour. The crew who quotes your project is the crew who builds it. 5-star Google rating from Kildare and wider Leinster customers. Fixed-price quotes that hold, and invoices that match the quote at the end. Delaney is the paving contractor people recommend to their neighbours in Kildare, which over four decades has built a book of work you can genuinely walk past in the county and see.

Why Choose Delaney for Paving in Kildare
Every Paving Material, Done Right
Block paving (Kilsaran and Tobermore ranges), porcelain (factory-calibrated flags with precision edges), natural stone (granite, limestone, sandstone with riven or honed finishes), tarmac with granite sett borders, and all the edge and feature elements that tie them together. One contractor covers every Kildare paving style, with the specialist technique each material actually needs.
Precision Pattern-Laying
Herringbone, stretcher bond, basket weave, bespoke patterns with feature borders and colour banding. This is where a proper paving contractor shows their hand. Joints line up across the paved area, cuts at edges sit tight and clean, border courses frame the main area properly. Three generations of Delaney crew have trained specifically in pattern-laying, which is why our Kildare block paving projects photograph as well as they do.
Full Hardscape Build
Retaining walls, seating walls, planter walls, steps, granite features, edge details, integrated lighting foundations, outdoor kitchen bases, pergola footings: all delivered alongside the main paved area as part of one coherent build. Not outsourced to a landscaper afterwards. That is the difference between a paved area and a properly designed hardscape project.
45+ Years Kildare Reputation
Three generations, same family, same Kildare yard since the late 1970s. 500+ completed projects across the county. Our reputation is built on work you can genuinely walk past and see: driveways in Naas and Newbridge estates, patios in mature Kildare Town and Athy gardens, full hardscape renovations on rural properties from Clane to Eadestown. References are everywhere.
How We Deliver Your Paving Project
Site Survey & Design Discussion
We visit your Kildare property, measure the area, assess ground conditions, check drainage and discuss design options. Material samples from premium Irish and European suppliers brought on site so you can see the real finish in daylight. Detailed written quote within 48 hours.
Pattern & Material Lock
Once direction is agreed we lock the full spec: block range, pattern choice, feature borders, jointing colour, edging style, any integrated hardscape elements (walls, steps, features). Materials ordered in batch-matched quantities so colour consistency holds across the whole project.
Groundwork, Sub-Base & Drainage
Excavation to correct depth (200-250mm+ on paving depending on material), all spoil removed responsibly, compacted hardcore sub-base laid in layers with a vibrating roller. Drainage engineered in at this stage: falls, channel drains, soakaways or connections to existing systems as needed.
Bedding, Laying & Feature Elements
Appropriate bedding for each material (sharp sand screed for block paving, full sand-and-cement for porcelain and natural stone). Pattern-laid with border courses and feature banding. Any retaining walls, steps, seating walls and planter walls built in parallel so the finished project is coherent rather than bolted together.
Jointing, Finishing & Handover
Kiln-dried jointing sand plate-compacted into block paving joints. Hand-pointed mortar joints for porcelain and natural stone. Final wash-down, waste removal, walk-through at handover with care guidance specific to your chosen materials. Standard workmanship guarantee applies.
