Our Process

HOW WE INSTALL
RESIN DRIVEWAYS.

01

Site Preparation

We excavate and prepare a solid sub-base with proper falls for drainage. This is the foundation of a long-lasting resin driveway.

02

Edging & Borders

We install granite or aluminium edging to contain the resin and give a clean, defined border to your driveway.

03

Resin Application

The aggregate and resin are mixed on-site and hand-trowelled to an even depth - typically 15-18mm for driveways.

04

Curing & Handover

The surface cures within 4-6 hours and is fully usable within 24 hours. We do a final walkthrough to make sure you're happy.

Common Questions

RESIN DRIVEWAY FAQ.

What is a resin bound driveway?+

A resin bound driveway is created by mixing natural aggregate stones with a clear UV-stable resin and hand-trowelling it onto a prepared surface. It creates a smooth, hard-wearing, fully permeable finish with no loose stones.

How long does a resin driveway last?+

A properly installed resin bound driveway will last 15-25 years. The UV-stable resin we use resists yellowing, cracking, and frost damage. With minimal maintenance, it will look great for decades.

Do I need planning permission for a resin driveway?+

Generally no, because resin bound surfaces are fully permeable (SuDS compliant), meaning rainwater drains through naturally. This exempts them from planning restrictions that apply to non-porous surfaces in most cases.

Is resin bound better than tarmac?+

Resin bound and tarmac serve different needs. Resin offers a more decorative, permeable finish with a wide range of colours. Tarmac is more cost-effective for larger areas and heavy vehicle use. We can help you decide which suits your property best during a free site visit.

How do you maintain a resin driveway?+

Resin driveways require very little maintenance. An occasional power wash keeps them looking fresh. No re-sealing or re-sanding is needed. Weeds cannot grow through the surface, and moss growth is minimal.

Can resin be laid over an existing tarmac driveway?+

In most cases, yes. If your existing tarmac base is sound, level and properly drained, we can overlay it with a resin bound finish in a single day. We assess the base during the site visit and let you know whether a full excavation is needed or whether an overlay will perform just as well.

What colours are available?+

Delaney Tarmac offers more than 30 Daltex aggregate colours, from cool silvers and contemporary greys to warm gold, terracotta red, cream and almost-black. Decorative options include diamond inlays, banded borders, contrasting kerb edging and custom inlays. Paul brings physical sample boards to every site visit.
