A resin bound driveway is created by mixing natural aggregate stones with a clear UV-stable resin and hand-trowelling it onto a prepared surface. It creates a smooth, hard-wearing, fully permeable finish with no loose stones.
A properly installed resin bound driveway will last 15-25 years. The UV-stable resin we use resists yellowing, cracking, and frost damage. With minimal maintenance, it will look great for decades.
Generally no, because resin bound surfaces are fully permeable (SuDS compliant), meaning rainwater drains through naturally. This exempts them from planning restrictions that apply to non-porous surfaces in most cases.
Resin bound and tarmac serve different needs. Resin offers a more decorative, permeable finish with a wide range of colours. Tarmac is more cost-effective for larger areas and heavy vehicle use. We can help you decide which suits your property best during a free site visit.
Resin driveways require very little maintenance. An occasional power wash keeps them looking fresh. No re-sealing or re-sanding is needed. Weeds cannot grow through the surface, and moss growth is minimal.
In most cases, yes. If your existing tarmac base is sound, level and properly drained, we can overlay it with a resin bound finish in a single day. We assess the base during the site visit and let you know whether a full excavation is needed or whether an overlay will perform just as well.
Delaney Tarmac offers more than 30 Daltex aggregate colours, from cool silvers and contemporary greys to warm gold, terracotta red, cream and almost-black. Decorative options include diamond inlays, banded borders, contrasting kerb edging and custom inlays. Paul brings physical sample boards to every site visit.
