Expert Installation

Dublin's Premier Patio Installers

Whether you are planning a sleek porcelain entertaining area, a warm natural stone garden retreat, granite steps leading to a landscaped lawn, or a complete rear garden overhaul, Delaney Tarmac delivers the full scope of patio services across Dublin. We handle everything from initial design through groundwork, drainage, paving, planting borders, and finishing touches so you deal with one team from start to finish. No subcontractors, no hand-offs, no surprises.

Porcelain paving has become Dublin's most popular patio choice by a wide margin, and for good reason. It is frost-proof through every Irish winter, virtually maintenance-free, and available in stunning stone-effect, wood-effect, and contemporary formats that suit everything from period redbricks in Raheny to modern builds in Adamstown. Natural stone remains a beautiful alternative for clients who prefer the authentic warmth and character of sandstone, limestone, or granite. Paul Delaney will walk you through both options at your consultation, with physical samples in your actual garden so you can see exactly how each material works with your property.

Dublin presents specific challenges that generic patio contractors often overlook. Much of the city sits on heavy glacial boulder clay that drains poorly and is prone to frost heave in winter. Rear garden access is frequently restricted by narrow side passages, terraced walls, or shared laneways. Rainfall is persistent from October through April, demanding properly engineered falls and drainage channels to prevent pooling against house walls. Our crew has solved every one of these problems across thousands of Dublin properties over four decades. We know which suburbs have clay, which have sand, and which need aco drains before we even set foot on site.

The Delaney approach is built on precision. Porcelain demands diamond-blade wet cutting for every edge, curve, and manhole surround. Natural stone requires skilled hand-trimming and careful colour-matching across each delivery batch. We invest in professional equipment and take the time to get every cut, joint, and level right. That attention to detail is why Dublin homeowners trust us with their gardens and why they refer us to neighbours, friends, and family without hesitation.

Why Choose Us

Why Dublin Homeowners Choose Delaney for Patios

Porcelain & Stone Specialists

We install both porcelain and natural stone patios to the highest standard. Paul helps you choose the right material for your property, budget, and lifestyle at the consultation stage. We source premium European porcelain and hand-selected natural stone, never budget imports that deteriorate after one winter. You get a patio surface that looks exceptional on day one and stays that way for decades.

Precision Diamond Cutting

Porcelain is an unforgiving material. One wrong cut and the tile is ruined. We use professional wet-cutting diamond blade systems on every job, delivering chip-free edges around curves, steps, manholes, and drainage channels. The result is crisp, factory-sharp lines and joints as tight as 3mm across the entire patio. Natural stone receives the same meticulous attention with skilled hand-trimming for a seamless finish.

Full Drainage Solutions

Dublin's boulder clay subsoil drains poorly, and heavy rainfall is a constant from autumn through spring. We engineer every patio with calculated falls of at least 1:60, integrated aco channels where required, and proper connection to existing surface water drainage. This prevents pooling, sub-base erosion, and damp penetration to your home. Drainage is not an afterthought on a Delaney patio. It is designed in from the very first measurement.

5-Star Google Rated

Our reputation across Dublin speaks for itself. Consistently rated 5 stars on Google, our reviews highlight the same qualities again and again: clear communication, fair pricing, tidy work, and finished results that exceed expectations. We have built this reputation over 45 years by treating every garden as if it were our own and never cutting corners, even on the parts you will never see beneath the surface.

Our Process

How We Install Your Patio.

01

Garden Design Consultation

Paul visits your Dublin property to measure the space, assess rear access, check drainage conditions, and understand your vision for the garden. We bring physical patio samples so you can compare porcelain, natural stone, and granite options in your actual outdoor setting. You receive a detailed written quote covering materials, groundwork, drainage, steps, landscaping, and labour. Everything itemised, nothing hidden.

02

Excavation & Drainage

We excavate the patio area to a minimum 200mm depth, removing old surfaces, topsoil, roots, and debris. On Dublin's heavy clay subsoils, common across Tallaght, Lucan, Blanchardstown, and Firhouse, we install a geotextile membrane to prevent clay migration into the sub-base. Drainage falls are set using laser levels at this stage, and aco channel positions are marked and dug to ensure water moves away from the house.

03

Base Preparation

The sub-base is the foundation of a long-lasting patio. We lay and compact 100mm of MOT Type 1 crushed stone, then pour a reinforced concrete slab for porcelain installations or a precise sand-and-cement screed for natural stone. This rigid, stable base prevents flexing, settling, and frost heave cracking through Dublin winters. We do not take shortcuts on base preparation because everything above it depends on getting this right.

04

Patio Laying & Cutting

Each tile or stone is placed using the correct adhesive or mortar method for the material, levelled with calibrated spacers, and checked for alignment against string lines. Porcelain tiles are back-primed and laid on flexible adhesive. Natural stone is bedded on a full mortar bed with consistent joint widths. Every cut around edges, manholes, drainage channels, and garden features is made with precision diamond-blade equipment for a clean, professional finish throughout.

05

Grouting & Finishing

After a full curing period, we apply flexible exterior grout colour-matched to your chosen patio material. All edges receive a neat border treatment, whether that is a granite kerb, raised bed wall, or flush lawn edge. We clean down every surface, remove all waste from site, and carry out a final walkthrough with you to ensure every detail meets your expectations before we consider the job complete.
