Free Site Survey

Excavation & Sub-Base
We strip the existing surface and excavate to 150-200mm on standard ground (deeper on soft or wet sites). All spoil is removed from site and disposed of responsibly. We then lay crushed stone hardcore in compacted layers using a vibrating roller. This is the load-bearing foundation, the layer that actually determines how long your tarmac driveway lasts.
Edge Restraint
Before any tarmac is laid we install the edge restraint, concrete haunching, kerbstones, or granite setts depending on your chosen finish. The edge restraint is what stops the tarmac edge crumbling and spreading over time, and it is often the single most visible detail on the finished driveway.
Machine-Laid Tarmac
Hot SMA tarmac is delivered to site at the correct temperature and machine-laid in two layers, a binder course of coarser material for structural strength, followed by the wearing course for the finished surface. Each layer is compacted with a vibrating roller to proper density. Correct falls for drainage are set at this stage.
Handover & Care Guidance
We walk you through the finished driveway, explain the curing window for fresh tarmac (typically 24-48 hours before vehicle use, longer in cold weather), and provide care guidance. All waste is cleared, your garden and footpath are left spotless. We remain on the end of the phone for any follow-up questions.
