We design these with proper graded terraces, stone-faced retaining walls, granite or limestone steps between levels, and integrated seating or planter walls at the edges. Ground conditions in Dalkey are dominated by the granite ridge that runs through the village. On higher sites along Sorrento and Vico Road, excavation often hits granite rock, which our crews handle regularly with the appropriate machinery. Lower-lying properties around the harbour and Castle Street have mixed coastal ground that needs deeper sub-base preparation.
