Finglas has one of Dublin's most varied housing stocks, shaped by six decades of local authority and private development. The original 1950s and 1960s estates around Finglas West and Wellmount have homes with solid bones that are now ready for their first proper driveway upgrade, with many original concrete surfaces having cracked and sunk over the years. The later 1970s and 1980s estates, Kildonan, Barry Park, Ballygall, typically have slightly larger frontages where a full tarmac or block paving installation makes a real difference.

Finglas sits on stable boulder clay that gives a sound foundation for driveway work but does not drain water quickly. That makes proper sub-base depth and drainage the two most important details on any Finglas driveway. We excavate to a minimum 200mm on every driveway, use quality hardcore properly compacted, and build in edge channels and gullies to carry surface water cleanly off the drive and into the stormwater system. Poor drainage is the number one cause of the cracking and sinking that ruins cheaper driveways within a few years.

Tarmac is the most popular driveway finish across Finglas for good reason. It handles heavy use, it costs a fraction of block paving or resin bound, and when it is laid properly on a proper sub-base it will last 15-20 years with minimal maintenance. We use high-grade SMA tarmac on every job and lay it in two layers, a binder course for structure and a wearing course for the finished surface. Block paving is the preferred upgrade for homeowners wanting more kerb appeal, and we offer a wide range of colours, patterns and feature borders.
