Knocklyon is one of south Dublin's most settled family-estate corridors, with substantial 1970s-1980s detached and semi-detached homes around Knocklyon Road, Idrone Park, Coolamber Park and the streets running toward Ballyboden and the Dublin Mountains. Many existing patios in Knocklyon are 30-40 years old, tired concrete or settled flagstone, and porcelain offers a complete refresh that lifts the rear garden substantially.

Porcelain paving is laid as 20mm dense-vitrified slabs on a full sand-and-cement bed over a properly compacted sub-base. Joints are hand-pointed with a flexible jointing compound that stays weather-tight for decades. Dense vitrification means porcelain does not absorb water, does not stain, does not freeze-crack and does not need annual sealing.

For Knocklyon we typically specify warm sandstone and travertine tones that complement traditional family-home facades, alongside contemporary greys for refurbishments going for a more modern aesthetic. Stone-effect porcelain that mimics limestone or sandstone is also routine. Slab sizes range from 600x600mm and 600x900mm for traditional layouts through to large-format 800x800mm and 1200x600mm for contemporary specifications.

Being based in Kildare with daily Dublin work, Knocklyon is a 35-minute run via the M50. Most porcelain projects start within two to three weeks of the signed quote.

A Knocklyon-specific detail is the foothill-edge sloping plots toward Ballyboden and the Dublin Mountains. Multi-level rear gardens with retaining walls supporting upper terraces and integrated step features cut into porcelain transitions are common. Higher ground can also hit shallow bedrock during excavation, which we work with rather than around. We deliver structural and decorative work in-house: granite-faced retaining walls, sawn granite step nosings, integrated lighting and clean porcelain-to-stone transitions.

Knocklyon porcelain work often coordinates with practical garden upgrades: low rendered or stone-faced seating walls bordering the patio, integrated planter walls, integrated lighting strips, outdoor kitchen bases, and clean transitions to lawn or stone paths. Family-home gardens here typically run 25-40 square metres of patio.
